If your product lines look cramped — or you want more of them to fit on one page — adjust the document table line height. It takes four quick steps.
Change the line height
- Go to Settings → Documents → Document designs, pick the language and open the design.
- Click the document table on the page, or the gear icon next to Document table in the Blocks list. The right-hand panel shows the table’s settings.
- Open the Style tab and its Font sub-tab.
- Change Line height, then click Save.
The page updates as you change it, so you can see how many lines fit before you save.
On an invoice, quote or other design, the table’s style is locked while it follows your base design. Change the line height in the base Document design so every document type gets it, or switch Use default off for the table’s columns to give this design its own. In the basic editor, also check Use default design at the top of the Settings tab — while it is on, the whole design follows the base design and nothing can be changed. In the advanced editor, the table’s style is on the Document template side of the switch in the toolbar.
Getting it right
- More room — raise the line height. Easier to read, and a good idea when your descriptions are short and the invoice looks sparse.
- More lines per page — lower it. Worth doing when a long invoice spills onto a second page for the sake of two rows.
- Check the preview before you save. Use Preview in the toolbar to see the real document, not just the editor’s rendering.
Fonts and totals in the same place
The same Font sub-tab carries the table’s Font color, Font size and Font family. Below them, the Heading and Rows boxes give the column headings and the product lines their own font size, font family and bold — for every column at once or for one column you pick. If the table still looks tight after changing the line height, a smaller font is the other lever.
The Sub total sub-tab styles the totals under the table: colours, plus the font size, family and bold of the total rows.
It applies to the design, not one invoice
Line height is a design setting, so it changes every document made with that design. It is not something you set per invoice.
